Presleigh Pilon records two doubles
TEMPE, Ariz. – Baylor Softball falls against Arizona State, 5-0, Thursday night at Farrington Stadium.
THE RUNDOWN
The Bears were able to hold ASU scoreless through the first two innings, only allowing a single in the first and second innings.
Baylor threatened early, after loading the bases in the top of the second when Abi Flores and Karynton Dawson drew walks and Amber Toven laid down a bunt single, but they weren't able to capitalize.
Arizona State hit a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the third before scoring two more unearned runs after an error, a wild pitch and a couple hits.
Presleigh Pilon recorded the Bears' second hit of the game, a double to right field, in the top of the fourth but a strikeout ended the threat.
Baylor kept the Sun Devils off of the board in the fourth and fifth innings, retiring the side in order in the bottom of the fifth as Lillie Walker picked up back-to-back strikeouts.
Shaylon Govan drew a walk in the top of the sixth, but it was ASU who added another crooked number in the bottom half of the inning, scoring two runs on three hits to take the 5-0 lead.
Trying to get something going in the seventh, Pilon hit her second double of the day, but three-straight outs ended the threat and Baylor was shut out in the series opener.
