WACO, Texas – For the 27
th straight season, Baylor men's tennis secured a spot in the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Team Championships. During Monday night's selection show, the Bears heard their name called and were placed in the College Station region.
The Bears (22-10) begin play against Nebraska (15-9) in the first round at Texas A&M's Mitchell Tennis Center on Saturday. With a first-round win, BU would face the winner of the hosting Texas A&M Aggies and Rice Owls in the second round on Sunday.
This marks the second year in a row Baylor has been selected to compete in the College Station regional. Last year, then 39
th-ranked Baylor faced off with 18
th-ranked San Diego, where the Dorres won four tiebreakers and survived a four-hour rain delay to defeat the Bears, 4-1 in the first round.
Baylor holds a combined record of 42-6 in the first two rounds of the tournament and an overall mark of 67-25. BU is 5-5 when playing at the College Station regional.
First- and second-round competition in the NCAA Championship is held across 16 regional campus sites from May 2-5. The winner of each regional advances to a super-regional comprised of just two teams on May 9 or 10.
