LAWRENCE, Kan. – Baylor track & field concluded another successful day at Rock Chalk Park on Friday at Day Two of the Big 12 Outdoor Championship.

The Baylor women held nothing back, snagging 38.5 points on the day, all in field events. 20 of those points came from the long jump competition, where Alexis Brown proved to the conference her top-status once again.

In her first jump of the day, Brown leapt to 7.03 meters, 23'0.75", to achieve national status. By joining the seven-meter club, the graduate became No. 1in the world 2025 outdoor season, No. 3 in collegiate, tied for No. 8 in American history and the second-best American collegiate ever.

Also earning gold in back-to-back years was Molly Haywood in pole vault. Not new to being the top dawg, Haywood became Baylor's first pole vaulter since Annie Rhodes in 2016-17 to win the title in consecutive years with her 14-10 mark.

Logan Todorovich also contributed heavily in BU's points, bringing home two medals and two PRs in the heptathlon and long jump. The freshman earned fifth place in the heptathlon and seventh in long jump to grab two All-Big 12 honors.

THE RUNDOWN
Beginning the day with the final three events of the heptathlon, Todorovich and Kiara Wesseh took on the long jump, javelin and 800m competitions. In the final event of the day, the two freshmen PR'd in the 800m to push them up the leaderboard. Todorovich finished fifth with 5,269 points in total, earning all-conference honors in both her Big 12 Indoor and Outdoor debuts.

Not long after, Todorovich alongside Brown and Janae De Gannes began the long jump competition. The Bears came out ready to go, all three achieving their best jumps of the day on their first attempts. Todorovich hit a PR of 20-7, while De Gannes followed behind at 21-3.5. An eruption came from the crowd as they witnessed Brown make history with her 23-0.75 mark. BU took first, second and seventh in long jump, dominating the field.

Moving along to running events, Demario Prince captured a Big Q with a second place finish in Heat 2 of the 110mH at 13.52 (-2.6 m/s) to advance to the finals.

In the women's 400m, Summer Sergeant survived and advanced to the finals. The senior captured a PR time of 54.05 to move on.

Laurenz Colbert (10.33) and De'montray Callis (10.39) both advanced to the finals in the men's 100m sprint with Colbert winning his heat and placing second overall.

In the women's 100m, it was a tight matchup between the Bears and the Horned Frogs for who will take the top-nine spots to advance to the finals, with BU coming out with four qualifiers. Brown, fresh off winning the long jump, won the preliminary round at 11.45 (-2.8 m/s) while Hannah Lowe (11.62, -1.1 m/s), Michaela Francois (11.64, -2.9 m/s) and De Gannes (11.74, -2.8 m/s) took the six, seven and nine spots. Tiriah Kelley was just 0.01 seconds shy of also advancing in the top-nine in tenth place overall.

The pole vault competition rounded out the day as Haywood won gold at 14-10. Tenly Kuhn earned a podium finish for both her Indoor and Outdoor conference championships with a fourth place finish at 13-9.75.

MIKE ON THE MIC
"Finishing off of Day Two of the Big 12 Championships," head coach Michael Ford said. "Definitely want to start off with Alexis Brown, winning another title in long jump, breaking a school record, also going over 23-feet, wind-legal, for the first time. That was big for her, but even bigger was the points we scored. We scored 20 points in the women's long jump with Logan getting points and Janae getting the runner-up title. Overall, I was really happy with the field events today. Then you go Molly, who won the Big 12 title and Tenly getting points, I believe we got 12.5 points in pole vault, so that set us up well for tomorrow's finals.

"The women's 100m, we have four out of the nine in the final. We have Janae sneaking in to the final, just great to have Alexis leading the way and having Hannah and Michaela making their first final since they've been at Baylor. You go to the men's 100m with Laurenz and De'montray making the finals. Our men's team is a little slim, but you also had Demario make the final in the 110 hurdles. Overall, I thought we did a great job. Of course, you can't forget Summer, a senior walk-on, makes her first individual final at the Big 12s in the 400, so had a couple of great performances today. Excited to see what tomorrow brings."

WHAT'S NEXT
Baylor will compete in the final day of competition on Saturday, May 17, with field events beginning at 2 p.m. CT and running events beginning at 5:00 pm CT with the 4x100 relays.
