NEW ORLEANS – Alexis Brown has made her career debut on the prestigious Bowerman Watch List based on the most recent update released by the organization.

Brown is only the second Baylor woman to be named to the watch list, joining Aaliyah Miller (2021). Brown is the 27th woman named to the watch list this year, an all-time high for a single season.

The honor comes from Brown's stellar performance at the Big 12 Outdoor Championships, where the graduate earned two gold medals in the long jump and 4x100 relay and a silver medal in the 100m sprint.

On day two of the conference championship, Brown took part in the long jump competition, looking to defend her outdoor title while having already won the indoor title. In her first jump of the day, Brown leaped to 7.03 meters, 23'0.75", to achieve national status. By joining the seven-meter club, the Kennedale, Texas, native became No. 1in the world 2025 outdoor season, No. 3 in collegiate, tied for No. 8 in American history and the second-best American collegiate ever.

In the 4x100 relay with the team of Tiriah Kelley, Hannah Lowe, Brown and Michaela Francois, the group defended the title, winning the event in back-to-back years with a season-best mark of 42.73 which ranks No. 2 in the NCAA this season.

Merely an hour later in the 100m final, Brown sprinted for a big PR of 11.08, just 0.02 seconds shy of the BU school record to finish second. Brown now ranks tied for 10th in the NCAA.

With the help of Brown, the BU women's long jump event group currently ranks No. 1 in the nation and the 100m event group ranks No. 4. Overall, the women's team ranks No. 8, having held inside the top-10 for all of the 2025 outdoor season.

The final Bowerman watch list update is scheduled to occur Wednesday, June 4 (women), and Thursday, June 5 (men). Looking ahead, semifinalists for the award will be announced Wednesday, June 25 (women), and Thursday, June 26 (men). Finalists will be announced the week of Monday, June 30.

Brown and the rest of the Baylor team will continue in the postseason at the NCAA West Preliminaries in College Station, Texas from May 28-31.
