
No. 21 VB Sweeps Away UCF in the Big 12 Opener

ORLANDO, Fla. – No. 21 Baylor volleyball opened Big 12 Conference play in dominant fashion on Tuesday night, sweeping UCF 3-0 at The Venue at UCF.
In addition to winning four of its last five conference openers, the Bears improved to 6-2 on the season, extending the all-time series lead to 7-0 over the Knights.
On the strength of a 7-0 run from Harley Kreck at the service line, Baylor led by as many as nine and cruised to a 25-16 win in the opening set.
The second frame saw the BU capitalize on its consistent serving pressure, as Kreck delivered three of her five aces, and Bailey Warren contributed five more kills to seal the 25-17 decision.
The Knights came out swinging in the third set, using a 6-2 run to build a 10-6 advantage. With UCF in control for the middle portion of the match, BU found itself in a 22-17 hole but closed with a flurry, outscoring the Knights 8-1 down the stretch to seal the match, and run its consecutive streak set to 12 against UCF.
The Bears put together one of their strongest serving performances in recent history, finishing with 11 service aces — the most in a three-set match since tallying 13 at Texas Tech on Nov. 4, 2023.
In addition to a match-high 26 assists, Kreck set the tone from the service line with a career-high five aces, while outside hitter MJ McCurdy added a season-best four.
Freshman outside hitter Bailey Warren delivered her first-career double-double, recording 12 kills and 10 digs, while fellow freshman Ksenia Rakhmanchik was not far behind her with eight kills.
As a team, Baylor hit .222 while holding UCF to just .112 as the Bears moved to 4-0 this season and 166-6 in the McGuyre era when holding a team under .200.
