IRVING, Texas – Baylor football redshirt freshman kicker
Connor Hawkins has garnered two weekly awards from the Big 12 conference, winning Special Teams Player and Freshman of the Week after his clutch performance in Dallas to help BU earn a 48-45 win at No. 17/16 SMU.
In just his third-career game as Baylor's place kicker, Hawkins was clutch in BU's double-overtime victory at No. 17/16 SMU on Saturday. He was a perfect 6-of-6 on extra points, nailed a 26-yarder in the 3rd quarter and drilled a game-winning 27-yarder in the second overtime period to send the Bears home with the dub.
Hawkins accounted for 12 points on the day, the most by a BU kicker since 2023.
Through Week Two, the Liberty Hill, Texas, native has been a perfect three-for-three on field goals with a long of 36 yards against Auburn. On PATs, Hawkins is nine-for-nine and counting, accumulating 18 points thus far for the Bears.
