Bears and Mustangs first serve scheduled for noon at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center
WACO, Texas – The Baylor women's tennis team returns to action on Sunday, hosting the SMU Mustangs at noon CT at the Hawkins Indoor Tennis Center.
Sunday's match marks Baylor's first competition in 14 days after the Bears withdrew from ITA Kickoff Weekend play due to weather concerns in Austin. BU now looks to regain its match rhythm and momentum as it resumes spring dual-match action at home.
The Bears feature three ITA-ranked singles players with No. 40 Na Dong, No. 57 Zuzanna Kubacha and No. 99 Mu‑Jie Tzeng, as well as two ranked doubles pairings. Kennedy Gibbs and Dong enter the weekend ranked No. 38 nationally, while Kubacha and Dong come in at No. 61.
SMU arrives in Waco looking to challenge the Bears in a key regional matchup after opening the season 2-1. The Mustangs recorded wins over Air Force and Abilene Christian in a season-opening doubleheader, dropping just one point to each team, before falling 4-2 at Wichita State. SMU also squares off in a Big 12 bout with Arizona on Saturday morning.
The Mustangs feature two ranked singles competitors in No. 46 Sophia Llewellyn and No. 106 Elena Mireles.
Live stats and streaming will be available online.
A Cub Tennis clinic is scheduled to begin one hour before first serve, at 11 a.m. CT. The Baylor Cub Tennis program is open to children ages 3-11 and gives participants the opportunity to learn basic tennis skills from Baylor student-athletes and staff. All equipment will be provided, though participants are encouraged to wear athletic apparel and tennis shoes.
