Scott’s game winner at No. 10 Iowa State earns her fourth weekly league nod
IRVING, Texas – Baylor women's basketball redshirt sophomore Taliah Scott has been named Big 12 Player of the Week for her fourth weekly league award of the season, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
The Florida native averaged 22.5 points in contests at Oklahoma State and at Iowa State this week, helping the Bears mount a historic 19-point comeback against the Cowgirls before sinking the game-winner against the No. 10 Cyclones with two seconds remaining.
In Stillwater, Scott scored eight of the Bears' 29 fourth-quarter points, where BU outscored OSU by 21 points in the final frame to secure the first of two road victories in the second week of Big 12 action. Closing the victorious road trip, all 21 of Scott's points came in the second half after turning five drawn fouls into eight made free throws.
Coming up big from the line, Scott added 21 points from the charity stripe between the two games, shooting 91.3%. Her 105 free throws on the season rank second in the nation, only behind Kansas' S'Mya Nichols.
Scott's award is Baylor's 147th all-time weekly honor and the program's 97th Player of the Week. It also marks Scott's fourth weekly league award after winning Player of the Week following the upset over then-No. 7 Duke while being named a Top Performer twice.
The Big 12 Conference voters also chose Kansas' Jaliya Davis as Freshman of the Week with Audi Crooks (Iowa State), Olivia Miles (TCU) and Lani White (Utah) rounding out the Big 12 Starting Five.
Baylor is back home for a pair of Big 12 contests, hosting Colorado on Thursday night at Foster Pavilion before welcoming Kansas on Sunday afternoon. Both games will be live on ESPN+ and the Baylor Sports Media Network.
Baylor women's basketball is presented by Central National Bank, a family-owned, independent bank headquartered in Waco, Texas, that provides uniquely personal service while simultaneously embracing the latest developments in banking technology.
