GAME NOTES
QUOTABLE
Ryan McGuyre on the crowd and its impact on the match — "I thought it was huge. The fans were wild. The fans are crazy. UCF is supposed to be tops in aces, a tough-serving team, and I thought our fans really rattled them. At least for those first two sets when they're over on that side. They were missing a high percentage of serves. They had 11 missed serves, which really early on kept us way ahead of them. It's tough, you don't want to go four sets, but [the fans] stuck by us, and were just as powerful to help us push it over the top in that 4th."
Â
Freshman Nadiya Johnson on her growth and bouncing back to get their first conference win — "I think it was definitely good to get this win coming off of a tough weekend. We worked really hard in the past week on serving as well as our offensive connections. For myself, even as a freshman, all of my upperclassmen have been really helpful in helping me grow as a player and as a hitter. I feel recently I've been able to express that in the game and use it more often."
Â
Senior Tori Davis on feeding off each other's energy — "Yeah, when we see that energy from the back row, we want to do the same thing in the front row because we're playing for each other at all times. If we can make the jobs easier for the back row, that's what we're going to do, and that's what we did in that first set for sure."
