Bears in search of second conference win of the season
WACO, Texas – The Baylor equestrian team continues its three-meet homestand, hosting No. 5 Oklahoma State on Friday at 11 a.m. at the Willis Family Equestrian Center in Waco.
The Bears (1-6, 1-2 Big 12) face the Cowgirls (4-1, 2-1 Big 12) for both squads' first Big 12 matchup of the spring slate. All home BU equestrian meets are free to the public. Fans who attend can receive Horse Valentines.
OSU currently leads the all-time series at 40-14. BU is seeking its first win over the Cowgirls since 2019.
During the fall slate, Oklahoma State defeated Baylor 13-6 with the Cowgirls winning all four events. In Fences, senior Lauren Jorgensen earned the sole point for the Bears, while in Flat, senior Lauren Reid earned the MOP and garnered a point. In Horsemanship, junior Avery Mortman made her collegiate debut and secured her point, and senior Anna Thron bested her opponent to earn a point. Finishing in Reining, BU earned two points, including sophomore Britt McIlnay besting her opponent.
Baylor is coming off a close battle with then-No. 3 South Carolina. The Bears earned event wins in Flat and Reining, but it wasn't enough to upset the Gamecocks. BU earned three MOPs with Reid (Flat), Thron (Horsemanship) and fifth-year senior Bella Hehr (Reining), all garnering the honor.
Oklahoma State is starting its spring slate in Waco, winning its last contest against then-No. 10 UC Davis 13-6 in November.
