De La Garza goes 3-for-3 and Janusek doubles in two in Tuesday night non-conference contest
Seven of K-State's (16-5, 2-1 Big 12) nine hits on the night went for extra bases, including four home runs, to help the Wildcats to the run-rule victory. For BU, junior infielder Robert De La Garza recorded three hits in three at-bats, while freshman outfielder Brady Janusek had two hits and two RBIs on the night.
On the mound, senior right-hander Grayson Murry was a bright spot with two scoreless innings and matched his career high with three strikeouts. However, four other Bears pitchers combined to allow five walks, each of which eventually scored for KSU.
THE RUNDOWN
K-State got the scoring started with a solo home run and two-run homer in the top of the second to take an early lead. An RBI groundout by junior catcher JJ Kennett got Baylor on the board in the bottom half to make it 3-1 after two complete.
The Wildcats went deep again in the top of the third, this time a three-run shot that increased the lead to 6-1. Murry took over in the fourth and retired all six batters he faced in order across two scoreless frames, including three strikeouts, to keep the Bears within striking distance.
De La Garza led off the bottom of the fifth with a single, but was erased on a double play one batter later. A pair of two-out knocks by sophomore infielder Cade Dodson and redshirt freshman infielder Brytton Clements preceded a walk to fifth-year senior outfielder Ty Johnson, loading the bases for Janusek who lasered a line drive down the left-field line that chased in two runs. Johnson was thrown out at the plate on a perfect relay from KSU to end the inning, though BU cut into the deficit at 6-3.
After a scoreless sixth, K-State broke it open with two outs in the top of the seventh, exploding for seven runs on five hits and two walks. An RBI single, bases-loaded walk, bases-clearing double and solo home run put the Wildcats ahead by 10 and enacted the run-rule after the Bears went quietly in the home half.

QUOTABLE
Head Coach Mitch Thompson
On Robert De La Garza's performance…
"He's been good. I'm proud of him. I'm proud of the way he's gone about his business. You know, he sat there for a while and waited his turn, and when he got his chance, he stepped in the lineup, and he performed, and he's squaring balls up. He's taking good swings, he's having good at bats. And so, good for him. That's how you get to stay in the lineup and keep getting to swing, so good for him."
