Redshirt-sophomore leads Big 12 in scoring over the week
IRVING, Texas – After two 26-point performances, Cameron Carr represents Baylor men's basketball on the Big 12 Starting Five, the conference announced on March 2nd.
Carr led the conference with 52 total points against No. 2 Arizona and on the road at UCF. In Orlando, Carr put up 20 of his 26 points in the first half to contribute to Baylor's gritty 87-86 win. The redshirt-sophomore was the first Bear since 2019 to post 20 points in the first half in a Big 12 game.
Through the week, the Eden Prairie, Minnesota native shot with a 53.1-field goal percentage and went nearly perfect from the line (12 of 13), the most free throws made across the conference on the week. At UCF, Carr sank a career-best 10-for-10 at the line.
Carr's 26 points against the Wildcats and the Knights were both conference-season bests and only two points shy of a career-high. For the season, Carr became the first Baylor sophomore to achieve 500 points in a season since LaceDarius Dunn in 2007-08 with 556 points and counting.
Monday's weekly conference award marked Carr's third Big 12 Starting Five recognition for the season.
