WACO, TEXAS – No. 24 Baylor softball fell to No. 2 Texas 11-0 on Saturday evening at Getterman Stadium.
A nine-run second inning by the Longhorns proved decisive in the series finale, as the Bears were never able to recover, falling to 20-9 on the season.
RUNDOWN
Texas loaded the bases in the first, before Peyton Tanner got Hannah Wells to pop out to the catcher to end the threat.
Baylor's best early chance came in the first inning when Amber Toven doubled with one out, but the Bears were unable to bring her home.
The Longhorns broke the game open in the second inning, sending 13 batters to the plate and scoring nine runs on six hits, aided by two Baylor errors. A two-RBI double from Kayden Henry jumpstarted the rally before RBI singles from Leighann Goode and Katie Stewart extended the lead. The Longhorns added to the outburst with a two-run double from Hannah Wells and a two-RBI double from Ashton Maloney to make it 9-0.

QUOTABLE
Head Coach Glenn Moore on his message to the team: "There is obviously disappointment in the way we responded from yesterday's game. What I really challenged them with yesterday was to respond in a more competitive fashion today, so I was disappointed in that, but I just wanted to make sure they understood we stepped out of conference to play what could be the best team in the country. We need to keep it in perspective, so it doesn't affect us moving forward in a negative way."
Moore on Lexie Warncke's performance at the end of the game: "Lexie kind of stabilized things a little bit. I was very happy with her. She's got some really good stuff and when she's in the zone she can be very effective against a good lineup."
