Bowden sweeps singles and doubles titles alongside doubles partner Brostrom Poulsen
WACO, Texas – Baylor men's tennis capped off the 2026 ITA National Summer Championships by sweeping both the singles and doubles titles at the Hurd Tennis Center, extending the program's doubles dominance at the event to three straight years.
Senior Louis Bowden claimed the singles crown, opening with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Jaivanth Sathish before outlasting Western Michigan's Oscar Corwin 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, he needed a tiebreak to get past incoming freshman teammate August Brostrom Poulsen, winning 7-6 (2), 6-4. Bowden closed out the title with a 6-1, 5-7, 10-7 victory over Virginia's Stiles Brockett in the final.
Bowden and Brostrom Poulsen teamed up to add the doubles title as well, defeating John Riordan and Ryan Battaglia 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals before advancing to the final when Kishan Kersten and Meethre Barot withdrew from their semifinal match. In the championship, the Baylor duo edged Quintan Van Wijk and Anesh Jayasundera 6-3, 7-6(7).
The win keeps the doubles title in Baylor hands for a third consecutive year. Luc Koenig and Luis Jose Nakamine won it in 2025, and Oskar Brostrom Poulsen, August's older brother, paired with Marko Miladinovic took the inaugural title in 2024.
The tournament, hosted by Baylor from Aug. 8-11, featured a 32-player singles draw and a 16-team doubles draw with $20,000 in total prize money. As champions, Bowden and Brostrom Poulsen each earned main-draw wild cards into the ITA All-American Championship this fall.
