Senior earns second career offensive weekly honor after two goals off two shots
WACO, Texas – Baylor's Callie Conrad has been named the Big 12's Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a goal in each of the Bears' first two matches of the season, wins over the SEC's Arkansas and Texas A&M, as announced by the conference office Wednesday afternoon.
Conrad, who today received her second career Offensive Player of the Week award, netted a goal in each of Baylor's first two matches of the season. Against Arkansas, the senior scored in the 56th minute for what turned out to be the game-winner before attacking quickly in the home opener against Texas A&M in the seventh minute of action at Betty Lou Mays Field. The two goals were Conrad's only shots on the season.
The Bears received their highest ranking in program history Tuesday afternoon after the IWSOC and United Soccer Coaches released their Week One poll with BU at No. 6 after starting the season out of the top 25 but receiving votes.
Through Monday's matches, Baylor was one of 50 programs in the nation to start 2-0 and joined Wake Forest (defeated LSU and South Carolina) as the only teams to reach that record with back-to-back wins over Power Conference opponents. It is the Bears' 14th 2-0 start in program history and the first since 2019.
Baylor returns to Betty Lou Mays Field Sunday to host Texas State. The match starts at 7:30 p.m., admission is free and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
