WACO, Texas – No. 11 Baylor earned a 2-1 win over Oklahoma State in its home conference opener at Betty Lou Mays Field on Thursday night.
The win pushed the Bears to a 5-0 record in one-score matches this season and snapped the Cowgirls' five-game unbeaten streak. Baylor also extended its own unbeaten streak to seven matches behind goals from Aryanna Jimison and Noelle Sather in the 12th and 56th minutes, respectively.
Oklahoma State struck first, breaking through in the fourth minute when Laudan Wilson buried a shot off an assist from Sonora De Fini to put the Cowgirls up 1-0.
Baylor answered in the 12th minute when Jimison leveled the score with her fourth goal of the season. Olivia Hess and Theresa McCullough earned the assists, their fourth and fifth of the season, respectively. Baylor and Oklahoma State went into halftime tied 1-1.
The Bears got the game-winner in the 56th minute from Sather, who scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Sydney Miller. It was Sather's first match back after missing seven matches while playing for Canada at the U-20 World Cup in Poland.
Azul Alvarez was steady in net all night, finishing with four saves, two in each half.
Baylor held a 19-9 edge in shots for the match, with 12 of those coming in the second half, and forced the Cowgirls' goalkeeper into six saves.
Baylor returns to Betty Lou Mays Field on Sunday afternoon to host Cincinnati. The match starts at 1 p.m. with a "Beat the Heat" promotion, featuring a cooling towel giveaway while supplies last. Admission to the match is free, and for those who cannot make it, the match will stream live on ESPN+.

On tonight's game…
"Every single game is like this. It's a fight to the end. It's super difficult because everyone is good. We're at home, we need to get points at home, we did that tonight and we had to work for it, that's for sure. We maybe could have given ourselves a little more of a breather. We had a couple more opportunities in that game, but a win is a win, and three points are important right now, so we'll take it and move on."
