Meagan Diaz wrapped up her sixth season as an assistant coach for Baylor softball in 2025-26.
Diaz was promoted during the summer of 2023 from volunteer assistant to assistant coach of the Baylor softball program. She primarily works with the defense and assists with refining hitting techniques.
Under her direction in 2025-26, the Bears defense turned in one of the top seasons in program history, tying the school record with 31 double plays, including six during Baylor’s run at the NCAA Austin Regional. The Bears closed the season on a defensive surge, recording 12 twin-killings over their final eight games while leading the Big 12 in conference-only fielding percentage at .975. Diaz also helped guide freshman Kaygen Marshall through a successful transition to third base, where she started 51 games at the hot corner and committed just eight errors in 164 chances during her debut campaign.
In 2025, Coach Diaz continued to make a significant impact on the defensive side of the game, helping guide a Bears unit that ranked among the program’s best in key defensive metrics, turning 28 double plays, tied for the second-most in school history. Individually, Presleigh Pilon earned Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year honors for her golve work on the diamond.
During the 2024 season, Diaz worked primarily with the defense, helping the team back to its first Super Regional appearance since 2017. Diaz’s defense turned 24 double plays as a team and held opponents two one run or less in 22 games throughout the season.
She helped lead the 2023 squad back to the NCAA postseason appearance with a 40-18 record.
During the 2022 season, Diaz helped develop the young team and was in charge of all Baylor softball camps.
Formally Meagan Weldon, the Humble native returns to her alma mater where she lettered in softball for four years.
