Kristen Saenz serves Baylor Athletics as the Director of Spirit & Traditions, primarily overseeing the All-Girl Yell Leaders.
Saenz joined BU in June of 2023 as the Assistant Director, being promoted to Director in August 2024.
Prior to joining the Baylor Athletics department, Kristen has co-owned Texas Dynasty Cheer & Gymnastics with her husband, Daniel, since January 2006. Her duties have included overseeing all aspects of management and operations of the business. During her tenure with Texas Dynasty, Kristen has served as the cheer director for the gym and led the program to national success. In addition, the gym has also received several local awards and recognitions for consecutive years as the winner in multiple categories for the Best in Waco, including the category of Best Cheer Program. Over her coaching career, she has coached many competitive cheer teams that have won numerous national titles. She has also coached multiple Cheerleading Worlds and Summit teams, reaching the highest level in competitive cheer. In 2016, Kristen participated in the I.M.P.A.C.T. (Integrity Motivates People and Cultures to Transform) Leadership Core Workshop for the US All Star Federation. She is a certified and credentialed member of USA Cheer, US All Star Federation, USA Gymnastics, and has received her certification with the US Center for SafeSport and the Positive Coaching Alliance.
Along with coaching competitive cheer, Kristen has coached and choreographed several UIL and TAAPS GameDay teams across Texas and has also worked with local high schools on their sideline material. She has been a consultant cheer coach for Baylor University over the past 3 years and has served as a tryout judge multiple times. In 2011, Kristen became a certified National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association official and has officiated several meets at Baylor.
A two-time graduate of Baylor University, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education in 2003 and her Master’s degree in Sports Management in 2005. A lifelong Baylor fan and legacy, she cheered on the Baylor Coed team during her undergrad years at Baylor. During college, Kristen was also a member of the National Cheerleaders Association staff and spent her summers coaching camps across the nation. After graduation, Kristen was chosen as the captain and competed on the USA Spirit Team, representing the United States in international competition.
The Abilene, Texas, native is married to Daniel Saenz and they live in Hewitt with their four dogs - Quinn, Kya, Piper, and Knox. During her spare time, Kristen enjoys participating in non-profit and community service work and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Junior League of Waco.
