Jean-Paul Hebert was named the head coach of the Baylor men’s golf program on May 22, 2026, bringing more than two decades of collegiate coaching experience and championship success to Waco.
One of the most respected coaches in college golf, Hebert arrives at Baylor following four seasons as head coach at UNLV, where he guided the Rebels back to national prominence.
In 2025-26, Hebert led UNLV to a Mountain West Championship and the program’s 33rd NCAA Regional appearance at the Bryan Regional. The Rebels advanced to the NCAA postseason for the third-consecutive season under his direction and finished eighth in a loaded regional field. UNLV also captured a team title at the NB3 Match Play at Twin Warriors during the season, one of four team victories collected during his time in Vegas.
A year earlier, Hebert guided the Rebels to a 23rd NCAA Championship appearance, after securing a second-straight NCAA Regional berth. During his tenure in Las Vegas, Hebert coached Mountain West Golfer of the Year Caden Fioroni (2022-23), seven All-Mountain West selections and guided Fioroni to an NCAA Regional appearance at the 2023 NCAA Las Vegas Regional, the first NCAA Regional hosted in Las Vegas.
Hebert took over the UNLV program in 2022 after spending 12 seasons on staff at Texas, including eight years as an assistant coach and four seasons as a volunteer assistant. During his time in Austin, the Longhorns were a perennial national title contender in college golf, winning NCAA National Championships in 2012 and 2022 while also recording runner-up finishes in 2016 and 2019.
Over his 12 seasons with the Longhorns, Texas collected 42 team victories, 32 individual titles and five Big 12 Conference Championships. Hebert was recognized nationally in 2020 as the recipient of the Jan Strickland Outstanding Assistant Coach Award, presented annually to the nation’s top assistant coach. During his tenure, he helped mentor numerous elite players, including two-time Masters champion and world No. 1, Scottie Scheffler.
Before beginning his coaching career, Hebert enjoyed an accomplished playing career at Texas from 1989-94. A three-time All-American and four-time All-Southwest Conference selection, he helped lead the Longhorns to four Southwest Conference championships and a runner-up finish at the 1994 NCAA Championship. Individually, Hebert recorded 24 career top-10 finishes, highlighted by a victory at the 1992 Miami National Collegiate and a tie for third place at the 1993 NCAA Championship.
A native of Houston, Hebert comes from one of golf’s most accomplished families. His father, Jay Hebert, won the 1960 PGA Championship and served as captain of the 1971 Ryder Cup team, while his uncle, Lionel Hebert, captured the 1957 PGA Championship.
Hebert earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Texas in 1994. He is a member of the PGA of America, the United States Golf Association and the Golf Coaches Association of America.
