Kaeron Johnson, a former standout player at Baylor, is in his first year as the Assistant Athletics Director for Player Relations with the football program.
Johnson, who played fullback and defensive line for BU from 2009-12, joins the Baylor staff after serving as the head coach at Waco’s University High School in 2024. He previously served as the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Midway High School in 2023.
A native of Cuero, Texas, Johnson played in 37 games over his career at Baylor, helping the Bears to the 2010 Texas Bowl and 2011 Alamo Bowl.
His role on the staff will include spearheading relationships with the Texas High School Coaches Association.
Before time on the staff at Midway High School and leading the University High program, Johnson worked at Fulshear High School as the defensive coordinator and lead assistant from 2020-22, helping Fulshear to the first playoff berth in school history. He also worked on the staff at Mayde Creek High School in the Houston area, serving as Associate Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator from 2018-20, with Mayde Creek earning its first playoff appearance and playoff win since 1984 in 2019.
Johnson also worked on the staff as the defensive line coach at Magnolia High School in 2007-18, serving as the run-game defensive coordinator. Johnson was the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at Connally High School from 2013-17, where he also served as the interim AD and head coach, and was the softball coach, where he was named district coach of the year in 2016.
Johnson prepped at Cuero High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in education in 2013. He is currently working on his master’s degree at Concordia University.
