Men's Tennis Opens Big 12 Play With Win

WACO, Texas - Head coach Matt Knoll's men's tennis squad opened up Big 12 Conference play with a 5-2 victory over the University of Kansas on Saturday at the Alvamar Racquet Club in Lawrence, Kan.
The No. 9 Bears' record now stands at 9-2 on the season and 1-0 in Big 12 play while #73 Kansas drops to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in league action.
The Bears won two of the three doubles matches to go up 1-0. The Jayhawks' Ed Dus and Rodrigo Echagaray teamed up to defeat Baylor's David Hodge and Mark Williams, ranked 4th in the nation.
Kansas claimed their only two points of the match when Baylor lost matches at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. KU's Echagaray defeated No. 14 Johann Jooste at the #1 position and Eleazar Magallan beat No. 98 David Hodge at the #2 position. Baylor won the next four singles matches to secure the victory.
The Bears now travel to southern California where they play at San Diego State on Monday, March 6.
