WACO, Texas - Both Baylor tennis teams kept their hold on top-20 positions in the latest team rankings released Wednesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
After dropping their first two matches of the season on the road against other top-20 teams, the Baylor men fell four spots to No. 19 in the nation. The last time the Bears were ranked as low as No. 19 was February 1999.
The Baylor women held onto their ranking at No. 18 after winning their season opener Sunday against Louisiana-Monroe. The No. 18 position is the team's highest ever, this is the fifth week over the past two seasons that the Bears have received that ranking.
The two teams have both been in the top 20 since March 29, 2000, when the women's team moved up to No. 18. The Baylor men have not been out of the top 20 since finishing the 1998 season ranked 26th.
