WACO, Texas - Danielle Crockrom and Shiela Lambert combined for 66 points, 18 rebounds and nine assists Saturday afternoon as the Baylor women's basketball team beat Missouri 97-81 at the Ferrell Center.
Despite the 16-point victory, Baylor (18-6, 7-6 Big 12) actually had a scare in the second half. After the Lady Bears led by 25 early in the second period, Missouri (16-8, 7-6) put together a 20-6 run over four minutes that cut the lead to seven with 5:50 to go in the game.
The Tigers couldn't get any closer, however. Missouri connected on only two shots of eight shots from that point on, and the Lady Bears hit their last 10 free throws to seal the victory.
Crockrom scored a game-high 36 points, her fifth 30-point effort of the season. Her 11 rebounds also led both teams and gave Crockrom her 16th double-double of the year.
Sheila Lambert led Baylor with seven assists and added 30 points, her sixth 30-point game of the year. Prior to this season, the Lady Bears had never had two players score 30-plus points in a game, Crockrom and Lambert have now performed that feat three times this year.
Baylor built a 21-point lead at the half, thanks to a 16-7 run over the final 5:08 of the period. The Lady Bears scored the first two baskets of the second half to go up by 25, which would prove to be the largest lead of the day.
Marlena Williams was huge for Missouri, scoring a career-high 34 points. Amanda Lassiter and Kerensa Barr each scored 15 for the Tigers, and Barr pulled down nine rebounds to lead Missouri.
The game was played in front of 6,158 fans, the second-largest crowd of the season and the fourth largest crowd ever to watch the Lady Bears at the Ferrell Center.
Baylor shot 58.7 percent from the field, their highest percentage of the season.
The Lady Bears hit the road Wednesday, heading up Interstate 35 to play No. 10 Oklahoma. That game is set for 7 p.m. in Norman, Okla.
