HOUSTON (AP) - Terrance Thomas hit a 30-foot 3-pointer at the buzzer for his only points of the game to lift Baylor to a 62-60 victory over Houston on Saturday night in the final game of the Space City Classic.
Thomas, who missed his first five shots, got the rebound after Houston's Andre Owens missed the front end of a 1-and-1 with 5.4 seconds left, raced down the court and took the shot.
Houston had taken a 60-57 lead when Dwight Jones scored his only points on a 3-pointer with 45 seconds left.
R.T. Guinn then hit a pair of free throws with nine seconds left to cut the deficit to 60-59 for Baylor (3-0).
Houston (0-3) led most of the game, with its biggest lead at 40-33 early in the second half. Kenny Taylor's shot finished an 8-0 run to give the Bears their first lead at 41-40 six minutes into the second half, and the lead went back and forth after that.
Guinn scored nine of his 18 points in the final eight minutes while playing with four fouls.
Louis Truscott scored 16 points, and Owens added 14 for Houston.
Houston was 1-for-4 from the line, while Baylor was 10-of-12.
The Cougars shot 47 percent and outrebounded Baylor 41-29.
But three-pointers carried Baylor for the third straight game as the Bears hit 10 of 27.
The game capped a triple header in the first college games at Houston's Reliant Stadium.
