Jonathan, Dallas: Coach - congrats on a nice start. I saw where you had a lot of turnouver from last year to this year. Do you feel that this year's team is really a lot better than last year's?
Glenn Moore: I feel this team is more talented than last year and fits into our philosophy a little better. But we are really young and need a little time to develop.
Cynthia (Waco): Glenn, Y'all have really started off great!!! What does it take to get ranked in the top 25?
Glenn Moore: To play well against other ranked opponents.
Jodi (Waco, Texas): Coach: great start to the season. If there's one thing I've noticed, it is that this year,s schedule hasn't featured too many ranked opponents. Are you looking to make next year's schedule more difficult?
Glenn Moore: I believe the schedule should mirror the level of your team's experience. We feel that this year's schedule has enough ranked opponents to give us a good idea of where we are and what we need to do. As we continue to build the program, you'll see more ranked opponents on the schedule.
Jason - Houston: Coach - what sorts of things do you use to recruit players to Baylor? With all the new players this season, obviously whatever you are doing really works. How much does that great stadium factor in? Good luck this year!
Glenn Moore: Thanks, Jason. Having one of the top five facilities in the country is a definite advantage, coupled with the quality education Baylor offers, recruiting is an easy sell. Recruiting has exceeded expectations to this point.
Rachel: Who has been your most improved player this year?
Glenn Moore: Kim Wilmoth from Garland walked on and earned the starting position at shortstop. Also, pitcher Cristin Vitek has done an outsanding job for us on the mound.
Maximus: What skills do you look for in each slot of the batting order?
Glenn Moore: Our philosophy calls for speed in the 1, 2, 6 and 9 holes, balanced with power in the other positions.
Shannon - Orlando, Fl: I am coaching all new players ages 5-8, how do you keep their attention during the game other than scaring them into believing that if they take their eyes off the ball they will get hurt?
Glenn Moore: I'm coaching athletes 17-22 and when you find the answer to that, let me know.
Mike, Monterey, CA: After helping my daughter through recruiting process and producing her video, I've started making videos for other HS Juniors. The ASA coaches, players and parents love the videos but I want to be sure the coaches are getting what they need to evaulate the athlete's skills. I'm using top digital cameras and computer equipment and can capture very clear images. I've got that part down but I want to be sure the content is the most useful for coaches. Where or how would you suggest I survey college coaches for about video content? I think my current options seem to be: 1. Send surveys via mail or email. 2. Contact coaches on recruiting trips at ASA tournaments. 3. Make phone calls to coaches. Thanks in advance for your advice.
Glenn Moore: Mike, most coaches agree skills videos should show all aspects of the athlete's on-the-field abilities within a 10-minute time frame.
CJ: Who is the most coachable player you have ever coached?
Glenn Moore: It's very difficult to narrow that down to one particular individual. One of the reasons I chose the profession of coaching women's softball is the response and respect I receive from my athletes.
Rachel: What are your team's goals this season? Do you expectt to make the NCAA tournament> If so, how far do you think the Bears can go?
Glenn Moore: Our team goals are 40 wins, to reach the NCAAs and to finish in the top four in the Big 12. I feel this team in capable of reaching all three of those goals.
Glenn Moore: Thanks for all your questions. I've enjoyed it and look forward to our next visit.
