BAYLOR QUOTES
Head Coach Dave Bliss
On the game:
"I still attribute some of the things that we do during the game to the fact that we have such a youthful team."
"We battled back in the first half. They were ahead by seven and we hung in there. We got back in it and put ourselves in a position at half time that we could play the second half of the game."
On John Lucas' scoring drought:
"I had (Lucas) doing the same thing that Jim (Wooldridge) had Larry Reid doing in the first half. You tell me how Larry Reid took one shot in the first half. I would have paid him money to take one shot in the second half. I think John was a little anxious at the start of the game."
SENIOR FORWARD GREG DAVIS
On losing the lead:
"We kind of laid back a lot more than we should. We thought we had it under control...we started to take ill-advised shots and the lead evaporates. There was just a one point difference and if we had overcome that we would feel a lot better right now."
FRESHMAN FORWARD LAWERENCE ROBERTS
On hurting his elbow and the effects on his performance:
"I just fell on it and it didn't really effect me any. You've just got to play through things, its just part of the game."
On competing in the league:
"You've just got to compete every night. You can't go out there and slack off. You've always got to give 100% and it just goes to show you that any team can be beat
KANSAS ST. QUOTES
Head Coach Jim Woolridge
On the win:
"We found a way to win the game. It wasn't a pretty game by any means, but it was a win in the end."
"I was really frustrated at times in both halves. I just didn't think we were playing tough until late into the game and into overtime."
On Matt Siebrandt's last free throws:
"Make the first and miss the second. I forgot to tell him to hit the rim."
On his team:
"We are real proud of these kids. We're excited about the opportunity to play OU. We wouldn't be competitors if we weren't."
On Baylor:
"The zone and man they showed gave us real trouble in how we shot the ball. It really took us up until the very end to get the energy to win this game."
SENIOR GUARD LARRY REID
On Matt Siebrandt's last free throws:
"I wasn't really worried and we weren't really saying anything to him. We just hoped he would hit them. I don't know what he was doing on the last one but we were fortunate he made the first one."
On his performance:
"At the beginning of the game I didn't know what was going on. I think I was trying to look more for my teammates than to produce myself. In the second half I knew we needed scoring, so I turned up the aggressiveness and my shots started to fall."
On K-State's last possession in regulation:
"I was just trying to get something on the glass. I knew they would come out in a 2-3 zone making it easy for me to penetrate. I found an opening and got an easy layup."
On trading baskets at the end of the game with Baylor's John Lucas: "He came down and hit some good shots and I went down and was finding my shots. It was just two good players making the plays when it counted."
FRESHMAN GUARD NICK WILLIAMS
On Matt Siebrant's last free throws:
"To tell you the truth, I was really nervous when he got fouled. When the first one went in I started to feel a little bit more comfortable."
