Baylor Head Coach Steve Smith
On the game:
"I was disappointed in the outcome of the game, right now we are playing good enough to lose."
"Our offense played well but we could not find a way to stop them on the mound. Nebraska has a good ball club, but that is no excuse for us."
On playing at The Ballpark as opposed to Bricktown: "There were several balls hit to left and in Oklahoma they would have been out. The winds definitely weren't helping with the game."
Nebraska Head Coach Dave Van Horn
On the game
"For the first game, you wouldn't expect it to be an 11-9 game. But on the other hand, I thought our guys came out and swung the bat aggressively, and that gave us a chance to win. We felt after about the fourth inning that we were going to have to score a lot of runs to win. Baylor was really swinging the bat."
On the performance of Aaron Marsden
"I guess I can look at it two different ways. I can just give credit to Baylor; they just went out there and got after it. You can also look at it, as that was his worst outing of the year. It was probably a little bit of both. His (Marsden) breaking pitch was not good and his fastball was running away from him and he didn't have any control. He was behind the hitters all day long."
On the hitting
"It was great to see. I think Daniel (Bruce) had three hits, including one with the bases loaded that gave us a little bit of a cushion. Matt (Hopper) just kept swinging the bat. I think he had three hits on the day."
"We got a lot of two out hits today that drove in some runs. The first half of the year we hardly got any two out hits. That has been the difference lately."
