Men's Tennis Charges Through Main Draw in ITA

WACO, Texas - Baylor's last two hopes in the ITA Championships in Chattanooga, Tennessee came out swinging Thursday, Oct. 9. Benedikt Dorsch and Benjamin Becker both defeated their first two opponents to move into the round of 16.

Dorsch the ITA ranked No. 1 player in the nation got off to a quick start defeating Conor Niland of California 6-3, 6-2, then went on to defeat Calle Hansen of Pepperdine 6-4, 7-5. Dorsch's next match will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10.

Becker the ITA ranked No. 17 player in the nation and the tournaments No. 14 seed defeated Tigran Martirosyan of Kentucky 1-6, 6-3, 7-6(2). Becker then went on to defeat Jose Zarhi from rival Big 12 opponent Texas, 6-3, 6-2. Becker's next will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, against the tournaments No. 4 seed Alex Vlaski of Washington.

Dorsch and Becker were scheduled to partner up and compete in the doubles round on Thursday at 4 p.m. against KC Corkery and James Pade of Stanford, but due to rain delays they will play at a yet to be named time on Oct. 10, weather permitting.
