WACO, Texas (AP) - Ellis Kidd Jr. scored a career-high 26 points, including six 3-pointers, but SMU sank two free throws with less than a second remaining to lead the Mustangs to a 66-62 win over Baylor on Wednesday night.

SMU (3-1) won its second straight game over a Big 12 opponent after defeating Texas Tech, 62-59, on Monday in Dallas. Justin Isham and Kris Lowe scored 12 points each for the Mustangs, while Eric Castro added 10.

Kidd had 26 points on 9-fo-16 shooting for Baylor (2-2), and Terrance Thomas scored 15 to go with nine rebounds.

SMU trailed 47-44 with 13 minutes left but took a 49-47 lead on Demetric Bennett's 3-pointer and a jumper by Bryan Hopkins.

The lead went back and forth until the Mustangs put together an 8-0 run and took a 64-59 lead with just over two minutes left.

Kidd's 3-pointer cut the margin to 64-62 with 42 seconds remaining, and Simpson missed free throw attempt with 12 seconds left. Baylor rebounded, but a 3-point attempt by Thomas at the four-second mark hit the rim.

SMU grabbed the rebound, and Simpson was fouled, putting him at the free-throw line for the clinching points.
