Baylor Cruises Past Maryland-Eastern Shore

WACO, Texas (AP) - Aaron Bruce scored 22 points, including 14 in the first half, to lead Baylor to a 97-73 victory over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Wednesday.

Tommy Swanson and Tim Bush each had 16 points for Baylor (4-3). Patrick Fields added 13 and Roscoe Biggers had 11.

Baylor led 50-28 at the half, but Maryland-Eastern Shore outscored the Bears 17-7 to open the second half and cut the margin to 57-45 with just under 15 minutes remaining. But Baylor went on a 13-3 run and took a 70-48 lead three minutes later. The Hawks cut the lead to 14 points at 76-62 with 7:41 left but could get no closer.

Jareem Dowling led Maryland-Eastern Shore (1-8) with 22 points, while Tim Parham scored 16 and Ryan Leak added 15.

The Bears dominated Maryland-Eastern Shore inside, outscoring the Hawks 46-24 in the paint. Baylor also forced the Hawks into 28 turnovers, resulting in 37 points for the Bears.
