Women's Golf Rallies to Finish 3rd at Susie Maxwell-Berning Classic

NORMAN, Okla. - The Baylor women's golf team roared to a 304, the second-lowest round of the day, to jump up three spots and finish third at the Susie Maxwell-Berning Classic Tuesday at the 6,013-yard, par-72 Jimmie Austin Golf Club.
Sophomore Josefin Svenningsson (79-72-73=224) led the Bears by firing a final-round 73, tied for the second-lowest round of the day, and moved up seven spots to finish tied for third, her fifth Top-10 finish of the year. She also made nine birdies in three rounds to tie Kansas State's Christine Boucher for the most during the tournament.
Sophomore Meredith Jones (79-77-77) and senior Michaelyn Morgan (78-79-76) finished tied for 25th at 233, while freshman Anna Rehnholm (77-79-80) tied for 33rd at 236. Senior Kelli McKandless (85-82-78=245) finished the tournament tied for 52nd, while sophomore Sherry Summers (82-80-79=241), who competed as an individual, finished 46th.
Host Oklahoma (308-294-298=900) ran away with the tournament by 20 strokes over SMU (302-306-312=920). Baylor (313-307-304=924) finished four strokes ahead of Kansas State (315-300-313=928) and five ahead of Texas Tech (310-309-310=929).
OU's Lisa Meldrum (73-70-72=215) took the individual race by six strokes over Arkansas Little Rock's Linda Svensson (74-71-76=221) and nine strokes over Svenningsson, SMU's Laura Cross (71-75-78=224) and Boucher (73-73-78=224).
