WACO, Texas -- Junior Yurang Li won her second straight event and helped lead No. 15 Baylor women's golf to a second-place finish in the 2025 Bear Brawl, hosted at Ridgewood Country Club on Tuesday.
Baylor finished second in the 36-hole, one-day event with another championship performance from Li. Baylor shot a 272-292 with a total team score of 564 to finish just behind No. 4 Texas A&M.
Li fired a first-round 65, equaling the best score in program history and a number she posted last week in Hawaii. She was 5-under with seven birdies in her opening round. She followed that up with an even-par 70 to win the event title by two strokes over A&M's Cayetana Fernandez Garcia-Poggio, ranked No. 12 nationally.
"Yurang has played some amazing golf the last 10 days and I'm really happy for her and excited to have her as a Baylor Bear for this next year and a half," BU head coach Jay Goble said. "The conditions were really challenging out there today and even though as a team we struggled finishing up the last few holes, Yurang fought hard all day and came away with her second victory in as many tournaments. This team had a really solid fall and I think for us to compete the way we did it against A&M today just proves that we're one of the best teams in the country. A&M has won all four of their stroke play events in the fall and the two times we played against them they only beat us by three shots. We will rest and recoup for the next two months and get ready for our championship season starting in January. I am excited for what the future brings for this group."
Malena Castro finished fourth with an even-par score over 36 holes. She fired a first-round 69 with five birdies, and then posted a one-over 71.
Charlotte Brook posted a 69 with a 1-under showing in the first round that featured four birdies and a front-nine 32. She finished tied for 17th after an eight-over on the final 18.
Silje Ohma posted a 69 in the first round, dancing around a double on three to finished with a back-9 that saw her post a 5-under 30. She finished tied for 13th after shooting a seven-over on the final 18.
Bridget Boczar was even par on the first round, including four straight birdies to close the front nine, and then posted a 4-over final round score to finish ninth overall.
Amelia Wan shot a 75 in the first round and fired a four-over 74 in the second round to place 21st.
Mallory Matthews fired a six-over 76 in the first round and a 12-over 82 in the second round to place 53rd.
Obi Chan had a first-round 8-over 78 in the first round and an 11-over 81 in the final round to place tied for 53rd.
Baylor will return to action in the spring season, traveling to the PDI Intercollegiate in Orlando on Jan. 25-27.
