Trio To Play In All-Star Games

Three senior members of Baylor's 2004 football team -- fullback Jonathan Evans (Duncanville, Texas), defensive end Khari Long (Wichita Falls, Texas) and offensive tackle Quintin Outland (La Porte, Texas) -- have been selected to play in several upcoming postseason all-star games.
Evans, who played in all 11 games for the Bears and drew five starts as a senior in 2004, will play in both the Villages Gridiron Classic (Jan. 15) and the Hula Bowl (Jan. 22). The Villages Gridiron Classic will be televised from Orlando, Fla., on ESPN2 at 10 a.m. (Central) on Jan. 15, while the Hula Bowl, played in Kahului, Maui, also will be broadcast by ESPN2 at 6 p.m. (Central) on Jan. 22. Evans rushed six times for eight yards and caught 12 passes for 102 yards as a senior.
Like Evans, Long also will participate in the Jan. 22 Hula Bowl. He appeared in 11 games and drew 10 starts for Baylor in 2004. Long finished fourth on the squad (tops among Bear d-linemen) in tackles with 58 stops (5.3 tpg), led the squad in QB hurries (eight), was No. 2 (tie) in sacks (2) and No. 3 (tie) in TFL with eight.
Outland will join Evans in the Jan. 15 Villages Gridiron Classic and also is slated to play in the Jan. 22 Las Vegas Classic which will be televised by College Sports Television. He started all 11 games for Baylor at left offensive tackle as a senior in 2004 and made 37 consecutive starts at that position to end his career. Outland recorded a team-leading 45 knockdowns for the Bears and helped provide protection for Baylor signal callers who completed a school single-season record 59.5 percent of their passes in 2004.
