WACO, Texas (AP) - Tommy Swanson scored 19 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead Baylor to a 77-59 win over Chicago State on Monday.
The victory was the fifth straight for the Bears (7-3), their longest winning streak since the 2001-02 season.
Aaron Bruce added 15 points, Tim Bush 13 and Patrick Fields 12 for the Bears.
Kevin Jones led Chicago State (1-9) with 15 points and Craig Franklin added 11.
Trailing 35-22, Chicago State reeled off eight straight points to cut Baylor's lead to 35-30 three minutes into the second half. The Cougars pulled to within one point on three occasions, the last time at 48-47 with just under 10 minutes remaining.
But the Bears went on a 12-3 run fueled by Swanson's seven points and moved in front 60-50 at the 5:49 mark. Baylor led by as much as 20 points at 73-53 with 1:30 remaining.
Baylor scored the game's first seven points and extended its margin to 33-22 at the half. Bush led the way for the Bears with 11 first-half points.
