Men's Tennis in Consolation at ITA Indoors

WACO, Texas - Baylor's Lars Poerschke went 1-1 today at the ITA National Indoor Championships in Columbus, Ohio earning a win in the round of 16 but falling in the quarterfinal match. The doubles team of Matija Zgaga and Jon Reckewey also posted a win in first round consolation doubles.

No. 25 Poerschke, the number three seed in the tournament, defeated No. 26 Luigi D'Agord of Miami in the round of 16 to advance into quarterfinal action. Poerschke then faced No. 2 Ludovic Walter of Duke falling in a two-set 6-2, 6-4 match.

With his play today, Poerschke's season record becomes 11-2 overall, 7-2 against ranked opponents.

In doubles, the team of Zgaga and Reckewey advanced through the first round of consolation doubles defeating Drew Eberly and Chris Klingemann of Ohio State and a close, 9-8 match. The Baylor duo will face Darrin Cohen and Rylan Rizza of Virginia tomorrow.
