Women's Golf in 10th at Betsy Rawls

AUSTIN, Texas - The Baylor women's golf team opened with a 323 and stand in 10th place after the first round of the Betsy Rawls Invitational at the University of Texas Golf Club Friday.

Junior Meredith Jones (Eugene, Ore.) leads the Bears and is tied for 26th after shooting a 79. Junior Josefin Svenningsson (Gislaved, Sweden) is tied for 41st with an 80, while freshman Sian Reddick (Folkestone, England) is tied for 48th with an 81. Sophomore Anna Rehnholm is tied for 63rd with an 83, and junior Sherry Summers (Montgomery, Texas) is tied for 90th with an 87.

Nebraska holds the early team lead with 302, five strokes ahead of Duke (307). Arkansas (309), Oklahoma State (310) and Tulsa (311) round out a tightly packed top five.

Nebraska's Elli Brown leads the individual scoring with a 70, one shot ahead of Tulsa's Lee Anne Pace (71) and two ahead of Texas A&M's Christa Spedding (72).

The tournament continues with the second round Saturday, followed by the third and final round Sunday.
