WACO, Texas - Baylor guard Aaron Bruce has been selected to All-Big 12 and freshman All-America teams announced Monday by various outlets.

Bruce was named to the All-Big 12 third team by the Associated Press and received honorable mention by the conference's coaches. His all-conference honor is Baylor's 16th in the nine-year history of the league. Bruce was also voted to the Big 12 All-Freshman team by a panel of media who cover the league, joining Lawrence Roberts (2002) and John Lucas III (2002) as the only three Baylor players to make the league's all-freshman team.

The native Australian also received his first freshman All-America recognition, being named to the Rivals.com 2005 Freshman All-America second team that was published Monday. Bruce is Baylor's first freshman All-American since Roberts was a second-team selection in 2002.

Bruce is the nation's leading freshman scorer and the second-highest scorer in the Big 12 at 18.4 points per game. He was named the Big 12 Diaper Dandy of the Year by ESPN's Dick Vitale and the Midseason Big 12 Freshman of the Year by the Rocky Mountain News.

Baylor sophomore forward Tim Bush also was honored Monday, being named to the Big 12 All-Newcomer team. Bush is the fourth Bear to be selected all-newcomer, joining Harvey Thomas (2004), Terry Black (2000) and Patrick Hunter (1997).

Bush has averaged 12.9 points and 5.4 rebounds in his first season at Baylor after transferring from LSU.
