WACO, Texas - Baylor junior Meredith Jones (Eugene, Ore.) and sophomore Anna Rehnholm (Karlskrona, Sweden) were named to the 2005 Academic All-Big 12 Women's Golf First Team, the league office announced Tuesday.

Jones and Rehnholm add to their impressive list of accolades as both were named 2004 NGCA National All-Scholar Award recipients. The pair has also excelled on the course, with Jones earning Big 12 All-Tournament honors last year by leading the Bears and tying for seventh at the Big 12 Championships. Rehnholm had the best freshman season in Baylor history, averaging 77.25 strokes per round.

Thirty-seven student-athletes were named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team. Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and media relations offices, the women's golf academic all-league squad consisted of 31 first-team members combined with six on the second team. First-team members include those who have maintained a 3.20 GPA or better, and the second team are those who have a 3.00-3.19 GPA.

To qualify student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative of the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of her team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence, which kept Jones and Rehnholm from earning the honors in 2004.

Jones, Rehnholm and the rest of the Baylor women's golf team will return to action at the 2005 Big 12 Conference Women's Golf Championship Friday through Sunday, April 22-24 at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin, Texas.
