Men's Tennis' Cheyne Resigns

WACO, Texas - Rob Cheyne (pronounced Chain), an assistant tennis coach at Baylor for the past two seasons, has resigned his position to reutrn to his native New Zealand and attend chiropractic school.
After Cheyne's arrival at Baylor, the Bears took the next step in the program's success and claimed the school's first NCAA team national championship and a second place finish in 2005. In fact, in Cheyne's two years at Baylor, the team ranked no lower than No. 3 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) rankings, posted an amazing 65-3 record and was 14-0 in Big 12 Conference action. During this span the Bears continued to dominate the Big 12 Conference, winning both the regular season and tournament titles.
Cheyne, who helped develop six All-Americans and two NCAA singles champions during his two-year stint and was a Davis Cup player for his native New Zealand, was named the ITA's South Central Region Assistant Coach of the Year in 2005.
"Rob Cheyne has meant so much to this program and we will definitely miss him," said Matt Knoll, Baylor's Director of Tennis Operations and head men's tennis coach. "His contrubition to the success of the program has been tremendous. All of the Baylor tennis family wish him the best and know that he will be highly successful in all endeavors."
