AUSTIN, Texas - Freshman middle blocker Anna Breyfogle (Buda, Texas) had a career-high 20 kills and added five blocks as Baylor pushed Texas to five games in Austin for the first time in school history, but the 11th-ranked Longhorns came away with a 3-2 (27-30, 30-26, 30-26, 31-33, 15-10) victory Friday night at Gregory Gym.

"I'm proud of the team for stepping up tonight," head coach Jim Barnes said. "The way they rebounded from playing Wednesday showed their maturity and was a testament to how they prepared themselves."

Senior middle blocker Desiree Guilliard-Young (Berkeley, Calif.) hit .517 with 17 kills and six blocks, while senior outside hitter Nicole LeBlanc (Tampa, Fla.) posted her 12th double-double with 13 kills and 18 digs. Freshman outside hitter Katie Sanders (Katy, Texas) added 11 kills for the Bears (13-6, 2-5 Big 12).

Junior libero Kristen Schramek (San Antonio, Texas) matched LeBlanc for the team-high with 18 digs, while sophomore defensive specialist Amanda Renz (The Woodlands, Texas) had 14. Freshman setter Taylor Barnes (Arlington, Texas) was solid all-around with five kills, a career-high 63 assists, eight digs, three blocks and two aces.

"I think during warmup Taylor and I were trying hard to connect," Breyfogle said. "As we got warmer, we were connecting and getting more and more excited. I was much more confident tonight than I usually am, so I told myself to `just go for it.'"

Ashley Engle led Texas (11-4, 6-2) with 26 kills and 16 digs, while Destinee Hooker had 21 kills and Dariam Acevedo added 20. Alyson Jennings led the Longhorns defensively with 19 digs, while Michelle Moriarty added 17.

Texas outhit Baylor, .284-.230, and outdug them, 88-71. The Bears outblocked the Longhorns, 12-11, and outaced them, 9-3.
