Poerschke Wins Men's Tennis Honor

DALLAS - Lars Poerschke has been named the Big 12 Men's Tennis Player of the Week, it was announced by the conference office. The awards are the second in Big 12 tennis for the 2006 spring season.
Poerschke, a sophomore from Buseck, Germany, helped record two wins in California, as BU won at No. 34 USC (5-1) and at No. 6 UCLA (4-3). The sophomore battled at No. 2 singles and No 2. doubles, finishing with a 3-0 record. Poerschke was the first player off the court in the Bears' win over USC, defeating Jamil Al-Agba, 6-1, 6-2. He was also victorious over UCLA's Haythem Abid (6-3, 4-6, 6-4). Poerschke teamed with Michal Kokta to win a doubles point against UCLA, 8-5.
