Dorsch and Becker Playing in Wimbledon

Wimbledon, England - After advancing through the qualifying rounds, former Baylor tennis players and NCAA singles champions, Benjamin Becker and Benedikt Dorsch will play in the main draw of the Wimbledon Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in London. The tournament will run from June 26 to July 9.
In the gentlemen's singles128 player main draw, announced today, Becker with face Argentina's Juan Ignacio Chela, currently ranked No. 43. Chela, playing in his fifth Wimbledon ranked as high as No. 15 in 2004. Dorsch has drawn 41st-ranked Xavier Malisse of Belgim. Malisse advanced to the Wimbledon semifinals in 2002.
To get to the main draw, Becker, representing his native Germany and ranked No. 160 by the ATP (governing body of men's professional tennis), defeated No. 143 Nicolas Devilder (France), 7-6(7), 6-3; No. 285 Prakash Amritraj (India) 7-5, 7-6(4) and Ivo Hueberger (Switzerland) 6-3, 6-2, 7-6(1).
Dorsch, holding a No. 180 ATP ranking and also representing Germany, posted victories over No. 271 Yohny Romero (Venezuela) 4-6, 6-3, 6-2; No. 275 Toshihide Matsui (Japan) 6-2, 6-7(4), 6-3 and No. 146 Flavio Cipolla (Italy) 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.
