BAYLOR CONTINUES FOUR-GAME STAND
The 10th and ninth-ranked Baylor Lady Bears (8-1) will play the third of four straight home games when they host Samford Saturday night at 7 p.m.
The Lady Bears defeated previously undefeated St. John's (75-65) on Saturday, Dec. 6 to begin the four-game home stretch and downed Lamar (83-36) on Monday, Dec. 8. Baylor will complete its four-game home stretch on Tuesday, Dec. 16, against UT-Pan American to close out its 2008 home slate.
The Samford Bulldogs, 6-2 on the season, began the season at 4-0 before suffering two straight losses. They got back in the win column with a recent 67-62 victory over Wofford. The Bulldogs have posted victories over Jacksonville State (68-55), Alabama (61-55), New Orleans (58-46), Lipscomb (62-48), McNeese State (67-48) and Wofford. Their losses have come against Evansville (58-54 ot) and Chattanooga (55-54).

NEARING 1,000 CAREER POINTS
Lady Bear senior Rachel Allison, is nearing the 1,000 career point milestone. Allison, a forward/post from Jonesboro, Ark., currently has 975 points to her credit, needing just 25 to collect 1,000. She will become the 26th Lady Bears to attain the milestone.
Fellow senior Jessica Morrow, a guard from Humble, Texas, scored her 1,000th career point on Monday, Dec. 8 versus Lamar.

- The then-19th-ranked Lady Bears downed No. 2 Stanford, 81-65, on Sunday, Nov. 16.
- After moving up to No. 6 in the AP poll, Baylor dropped to No. 10 after losing to Wisconsin (59-58) and remained in that spot for the second straight week. Baylor is No. 9 in the USA Today ESPN Coaches' Poll, up from last week's No. 10 ranking.
- BU's victory over No. 2 Stanford marked the program's highest-ranked regular season win.

ALL-AMERICAN NUMBERS
Baylor's Rachel Allison has begun the season with considerable success. After hanging 18 points and 13 rebounds against Florida Atlantic, the 6-1 forward/post scored 25 points, 20 of which came in the first half against No. 2 Stanford. She was 9-for-16 from the floor, including 4-of-6 from 3-point range. In addition, she hauled down eight rebounds and had a block and a steal. She continues to excel, notching another double-double (11p/10r) in the first half against Rice en route to a 16 point and 14 rebound effort.
On the season, Allison is averaging team highs of 15.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

During that nine-year time span, Baylor's lone Ferrell Center loss came against 12th-ranked Purdue on Nov. 19, 2006, in the Preseason WNIT championship game. Since then, Baylor has won 22 straight non-league home games.
BAYLOR'S CAREER TOP 10
Rachel Allison broke into Baylor's career top 10 list free throws made with 266, bumping Jessika Stratton out of No. 10. In addition, the Jonesboro, Ark., native, currently has 706 rebounds and needs to haul down five more to rank No. 10 on that list, tying Baylor Athletic Hall of Famer Karen Aulenbacher's 711. In addition, Allison sits at No. 2 on the 3-point field goal percentage list at 43.1 percent.
Jessica Morrow, with her 103 career 3-point field goals made, continues to move up Baylor's top 10 chart. She currently sits at No. 8 and needs eight makes to tie Jordan Davis' 111. Also, Morrow, with 86 career starts, needs to start in five more games to rank No. 10, tied with Jackie Reiter.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
SAMFORD
The Samford Bulldogs, 6-2 on the season, began the year at 4-0 before suffering two straight losses. They got back in the win column with a recent 67-62 victory over Wofford. Sophomore guard Emily London (5-7) manages 10.6 a game while Karmen Smith, a 5-7 senior guard, comes off the bench to complete Samford's double-digit scoring with 10.1 points a game.
The Bulldogs are led by seventh-year head coach Mike Morris who sports a 98-84 career record, all at Samford. In 2007-08, Morris guided the Bulldogs to a 23-9 season record and a second place Southern Conference finish.

Baylor is 1-1 against Southern Conference schools. The Lady Bears lost to Appalachian State (83-63) on Nov. 25, 1989, and downed Chattanooga in the first round of the 2007 NCAA Tournament (March 18 at Raleigh, N.C.), 68-55.

In Kim Mulkey's nine seasons along the Ferrell Center sidelines, her teams have posted some impressive numbers in the venue. The Lady Bears have maintained a 120-15 (.888) Ferrell Center record during that time span. Mulkey's first three seasons produced a 44-8 (.849) Ferrell Center mark while over the past six years the Lady Bears are 76-7 (.916).
The Lady Bears were 17-1 at home in 2007-08, are 5-0 in 2008-09, and have won 63 of their last 68 home games.

BAYLOR IN THE RANKINGS
After defeating the then-No. 2 Stanford Cardinal on Nov. 16, the Lady Bears moved up nine spots, to No. 10, in the Associated Press Top 25 poll and then moved up to No. 6 after wins over Stephen F. Austin and Rice. The Lady Bears currently sit at No. 10 for the second straight week. Baylor has been ranked in a school-record 96 straight AP polls dating back to week nine of the 2003-04 listing when it broke in at No. 24.
In the latest USA Today ESPN Division I Top 25 Coaches' poll, the Lady Bears are ranked No. 9.
BAYLOR'S AP POLL HISTORY
Baylor's 117 Associated Press Top 25 poll appearances in the 2000s, all of which have come under head coach Kim Mulkey, rank No. 14 on the wire service's all-time list. The Lady Bears' average ranking during that time frame is 11.04. Tennessee and Connecticut top the 2000s list with 175 each.
All told, the Lady Bears have appeared in the Associated Press Top 25 poll 133 times which ranks No. 35.
