Taylor Sets Record in 600 Yards

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Katrina Taylor set a facility record in the 600 yards and Baylor qualified three runners to the finals in the 60 meters on the first day of competition at the Texas A&M Invitational.
Taylor won the women's 600 yards with a time of 1:22.65 to set a new Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium Record. Egle Uljas finished third in the race with a time of 1:24.21.
Whitney Prevost and Trey Harts qualified for the event finals of the men's 60 meters. Both recorded NCAA provisional qualifying times, as Prevost clocked 6.71 and Harts recorded a time of 6.72. Tiffany Townsend also qualified for the 60-meter finals with a time of 7.40 in the preliminary rounds.
J.T. Scheuerman finished fifth in the 400 meters in 48.06, while Michael Liggins took eighth in 48.3. Philip Raaf clocked a time of 1:12.08 to place fifth in the men's 600 yards. Tim Dobin finished seventh, while Sterling Farmer placed eighth.
Brittany Bruce finished ninth in the women's 400 meters with a time of 56.71. DeAna Carson placed fourth overall in the women's long jump. Carson, who set an NCAA automatic mark of 6.35m (20-10) last weekend, took just three jumps on the evening, passing all her finals jumps, to record a mark of 6.07, (19-11).
Baylor returns to action on Saturday afternoon with the second day of competition at the Texas A&M Invitational. Action begins at 1 p.m., with live results and a live webcast available at www.AggieAthletics.com.
