The Baylor soccer team released its 2009 schedule head coach Marci Jobson announced as nine home games and six contests against teams that participated in the 2008 NCAA Soccer Championship highlight the slate.
"We really like our schedule," head coach Marci Jobson said. "I think this will be a good chance for us to challenge ourselves both on the road and at home before we get into conference play."
Following an exhibition match at home against TCU on Wednesday, Aug. 12, the Bears open the 2009 season on the road for the second-straight season, as they take on Rice on Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. Baylor then opens its home portion of the schedule with back-to-back home games, beginning with Lamar on Sunday, Aug. 23 at 1:00 p.m. followed by North Dakota State at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28.
The Bears will then play a pair of road games in Louisiana, traveling to McNeese State on Sept. 4 at 4:00 p.m. and then facing Louisiana-Lafayette on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 1:00 p.m. Baylor then returns to Texas to take on North Texas in Denton on Sept. 11 at 7:00 p.m. before returning home for a Sunday night showdown with Louisville on Sept. 13. BU travels to face at UTSA on Sunday, Sept. 20 at 1:00 p.m. before getting into Big 12 play.
Baylor opens the conference schedule with a pair of home rivalry games, as the Bears host NCAA quarterfinalist Texas A&M on Friday, Sept. 25 at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Sunday night showdown (Sept. 27) with Texas at 7:00 p.m.
The Bears travel to Texas Tech on Oct. 2 before returning home on Oct. 4 to take on Colorado. A weekend road trip at Nebraska (Oct. 9) and Iowa State (Oct. 11) follow before Baylor wraps up the home portion of the schedule with three-straight games at Betty Lou Mays Field. The Bears will face Missouri on Oct. 16 then host Kansas (Oct. 18) on Senior Day before wrapping up with a non-conference game against Houston Baptist on Oct. 23 at 5:00 p.m.
Baylor finishes up the regular season with a pair of trips to Oklahoma, taking on Oklahoma State on Oct. 25 and Oklahoma on Oct. 30.
The Bears return 19 letterwinners and welcome 15 newcomers to the 2009 squad after finishing 5-10-3 in 2008.
