WACO, Texas - Baylor got at least 12 kills from three different players, along five players with at least 11 digs, for an all-around 3-2 victory (25-22, 25-27, 25-20, 23-25, 15-8) over Texas A&M on Satuday at the Ferrell Center. The win gives the Bears their first season sweep over Texas A&M in the 62-match history between the teams.

After taking set-leads of 1-0 and 2-1, Baylor dominated the fifth set, jumping out to a 10-4 lead and cruising to a 15-8 win in the match-deciding fifth set.

"It was just a great match battle by two teams," head coach Jim Barnes said. "Both teams put it all out there, and they had a valiant effort by Kelsey Black that we finally slowed down at the end. We stayed at it and we put it together when we needed to."

Senior Caitlyn Trice recorded 31 digs and Elizabeth Graham had nine blocks to lead a defense that piled up 104 digs and 13.0 blocks, holding Texas A&M to just a .113 hitting percentage. Allison King added 23 digs and Ashlie Christenson had 13.

On offense, Graham added 16 kills to lead the way, while Torri Campbell and Christenson each had 12, giving Christenson a double-double. Brittney Ridenour recorded her team-best 10th double-double with 27 assists and 11 digs, while her setting partner Kate Harris also had double figures in assists with 19 and digs with 17.

For Texas A&M, Kelsey Black took a total of 85 swings, but led the offense with 27 kills.

In the first set, Baylor took a lead of 9-6 on a Graham kill, then extended it to 15-8 with a second-touch kill by Ridenour. A&M pulled to within two at 19-17, but Graham provided three more kills to help Baylor to a 25-22 set win on a block by Ashley Byrd and Christenson.

The second looked to be going BU's way early with a 3-1 lead on a kill by Graham, but the Aggies took a 15-11 lead on a kill by Stephanie Minnerly. Baylor scored four in a row on set-point to tie the score at 24-24, but two points in a row by TAMU gave the Aggies a 27-25 win.

In the third, Baylor got back to its winning ways with a big three-point run with the score tied at 13-13. Christenson and Campbell sandwiched kills around an Aggie error for a 16-13 lead. Christenson extended the lead to 22-17 with a kill before finishing off the set 25-20 with back-to-back kills.

The fourth set swung back in favor of Texas A&M, even after Baylor built a big lead late. The Bears led 21-17 and looked to be on their way to victory, but the Aggies scored eight of the next 10 points, including four kills by Black to take the set 25-23.

The fifth set was Baylor's to lose from the beginning. The Bears flew out of the gates to a 7-2 with kills by Briana Tolbert and Campbell, along with blocks by Campbell and Byrd. Up 7-4, BU put on a 5-0 run to squash any chance of an Aggie comeback with two kills by King and just the second kill of the season for the setter Harris. Tolbert got the match's final kill for a 15-8 win.

Baylor will be back in action at the Ferrell Center against No. 8 Texas on Wednesday. The Bears will take on the Longhorns at 7 p.m.
