WACO, Texas - Pierre Jackson scored a game-high 16 points as No. 12 Baylor opened the 2011-12 season with an 81-54 exhibition win over Abilene Christian Tuesday night at the Ferrell Center.

Jackson hit 6-of-7 from the field and added six assists, five rebounds and four steals in his Baylor debut. Perry Jones III poured in 14 points and grabbed seven boards for the Bears.

"First of all, I thought for so many guys playing for the first time in a Baylor uniform there were a lot of positives to build off of, and obviously a lot of things to improve on," head coach Scott Drew said. "(Quincy) Miller, Jackson, (Deuce) Bello, and Brady (Heslip), and then Cory Jefferson for the first time in two years, that is a lot of guys who haven't played."

Baylor built a 35-29 lead at the break and pulled away with a 17-4 run in the first eight minutes of the second half. Quincy Acy and Jones III each scored four points during the run, and Jackson scored five straight to give the Bears a 52-33 lead with 12:50 remaining.

Acy had 10 points, five boards and four steals, and Brady Heslip hit 3-of-7 from behind the arc on his way to 13 points in his first game with the Bears. Freshmen Deuce Bello and Quincy Miller had eight and seven points, respectively, and redshirt sophomore Cory Jefferson added four points, four blocks and three rebounds in 12 minutes off the bench in his first game since the 2009-10 season.

ACU was led by Antonio Bell's 13 points, and Kendall Durant chipped in 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds for the Wildcats.

Eight Bears played double-digit minutes, though only Heslip and Jones III played 30 or more. Baylor held ACU to 32 percent on 21-of-66 shooting, and the Bears topped 50 percent by connecting on 26-of-51 from the field.

Baylor plays its first official game of the season on Nov. 11 when it hosts Texas Southern at 9 p.m. in the second half of a men's/women's basketball doubleheader. Live video will be available at BaylorBears.com through an All-Access subscription.
