With the win, Baylor (26-23, 11-13 Big 12) recorded its first series win in Stillwater since 2003 and its first road series win over a ranked opponent since winning two of three at Long Beach State in 2006.
Oklahoma State (33-18, 13-10 Big 12) hadn't lost a Big 12 series at home this season, and the Cowboys entered the weekend with an 8-1 record in Big 12 home games.
Pinckard (5-2) allowed three runs on six hits in 7.1 innings before turning the ball over to the bullpen. He gave up only one run on four hits in his first seven innings before giving up a two-run homer to Jared Womack in the eighth.
"I can`t remember a weekend in Big12 play when we got this good of starting pitching," head coach Steve Smith said. "Brooks Pinckard pitched it well. I can`t say enough about the job from Josh Ludy behind the plate. No one before this series had caught all three games of a series, and I thought he had a great feel for it and the guys were able to execute. He made some really good decisions and guys did a great job of executing."
Trent Blank came on in relief to get the second out of the inning, and Max Garner stranded a pair of runners with a strikeout for the third out before retiring the side in order in the ninth to post his sixth save of the season. Garner has saved a game in five consecutive Big 12 series.
OSU took advantage of two walks and a single to take an early lead with a RBI groundout in the first inning, but Pinckard settled in and retired 13 of 14 batters between the third and seventh innings.
Baylor tied the game in the third when Max Muncy hit his eighth homer of the season, and one inning later Landis Ware doubled and came around to score on Jake Miller's sacrifice fly to give the Bears a 2-1 lead they would never relinquish.
Muncy went 4-for-5, while Josh Ludy went 2-for-3 with a sacrifice bunt and a walk and Hainsfurther drove in a pair of runs for the Bears. Baylor had four sacrifice bunts and a sacrifice fly in the game.
"(Muncy) had a really good ball game for us," Smith said. "He made a great play to complete a double play. We made and completed a lot of those plays all weekend ... there were a lot of things that went well for us this weekend."
The Bears padded their lead in the eighth on a two-out, two-run single from Joey Hainsfurther, but Womack homered in the bottom half of the inning to end Pinckard's day and cut the Baylor lead back down to one at 4-3.
OSU starting pitcher Randy McCurry (2-3) took the loss after allowing two runs on seven hits in 4.2 innings, while reliever Andrew Heaney gave up two runs on four hits in 3.0 innings of work. Hunter Bailey had the Cowboys' only multi-hit game, finishing 3-for-4.
Baylor again got an insurance run in the ninth after Dan Evatt was hit by a pitch and came home on a suicide squeeze bunt from Steve DalPorto. Garner wouldn't need the run, as he retired the side in order on 12 pitches in the ninth to close out the win.
Baylor closes out the regular season with a four-game homestand starting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday night against Dallas Baptist. The Bears wrap up Big 12 play with a three-game home series against Oklahoma Thursday through Saturday.
