LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Three second half goals led the Baylor soccer team (4-0-1) to a 3-0 win over Louisville (1-2-1) at the Courtyard by Marriott Airport Cardinal Classic Friday night in Louisville, Ky.
The win keeps the Bears undefeated in its first five games for the first time since 2009 and gives BU four wins in the opening five games for the first time since 2007.
"We really turned it on in the second half," head coach Marci Jobson said. "To come out and get a road win like that shows a lot about this young team."
Baylor got three goals from three different players, as Natalie Huggins opened up the scoring in the 47th minute with a shot from 12 yards out that beat the keeper to the far post for the 1-0 lead. Her second goal of the season came on an assist from Bethany Johnston.
Lisa Sliwinski doubled the lead in the 68th minute with her first goal of the season on a header off a cross from Hannah Dismuke.
The third and final goal came off the head of Hanna Gilmore in the 88th minute after a cross from Vic Hoffman found her 11 yards out.
Tied 0-0 at the half, Baylor outshot the Cardinals 9-3 in the second half.
Courtney Seelhorst collected her third shutout of the year, making just two saves on the evening.
The Bears wrap up play in Louisville with a match Sunday against Kentucky (4-0-0) beginning at 11:30 a.m. CT.
