BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES
Baylor Head Coach Kim MulkeyOn starting the game 0-9 from the field:
"You look up at halftime and we score 50 points and think of how many easy one we did miss? I got a good look at combinations today. We can go big and slower, or we can go smaller and faster. At different times the ones I had in there together worked well on what we were trying to do."
On Alexis Prince's performance:
"A lot of it is just Alexis' mindset. She has been away from the game for two years and now getting back in the flow. When you are hot you feel like you cannot miss. She can shoot the ball like most girl scannot do."
On the offense:
"We started making shots that we were missing. I thought Stephen F. Austin came out of the gates, and they were up in us. We were not able to blow by them off the dribble. I love to see coaches who stress that."
Sophomore Forward Nina Davis
On how her teammates making the outside shots helps her inside:
"When you have players that can score it helps especially if I am being double-teamed or we are facing the zone. When we have players like [Alexis] Price, Imani Wright, and Kristi Wallace who can shoot from the outside it pretty much opens up the inside for me."
On her confidence:
"I am playing with a lot of confidence right now. I know my team needs me to score every night so I come in with a mindset that my team needs me. I just come in and do my part."
Sophomore Guard Alexis Prince
On her performance:
"The shots I took were in rhythm. I did not force many shots. I have a mindset to keep focused on the game."
On the team having inside threats allowing her to be open on the outside:
"If we start hitting the outside shot then that makes the defense have to play everybody honest. They would not be able to pack the paint like the past couple of games."
SFA Head Coach Brandon Schneider
Opening Statement...
"I think when you play an opponent the quality of Baylor, it's a tremendous opportunity for your team to get better on every single possession. I think as we break down the film we are going to see some stretches where our team made a lot of progress today. We got to see so many things; so many different kind of lineups with size and difference and we played some zone, they pressed us, they ran some different offensive schemes. So, just a good opportunity for our team, and I was really proud of the fact that there wasn't a stretch that our team ever fragmented or put our head down or pointed fingers. I thought we really kept a positive attitude throughout."
On playing defensively...
"Well, with our lack of size we really have to pressure, especially against a team like that. And I think we caused them a little bit of problems there. Unfortunately, we couldn't stick with it because we got in some foul trouble. You know, that's a little bit of a catch 22. But, we really wanted to start the game in that fashion because you have to take away the paint when you're playing them, and for us that starts with good ball pressure."
On Taylor [Ross'] fouls...
"Really, really, really hurt us. It probably doesn't affect the outcome of the game, but it definitely affects the score. Right now, she's our leading scorer. She puts so much pressure on our opponents' defense by getting in the paint, and we saw a little more of that in the second half. But, she's also our best on-ball defender. Not having her out there definitely affects us in a negative way."
SFA Senior Center Porsha Roberts
On coming back and playing in Waco...
"I mean, it felt good to finally be back in front of my family and friends who haven't been able to see me play since I went off to Stephen F. Austin. So, I mean I felt good playing back home."
On how she felt...
"I felt good. I just let the game come to be. I started on the defensive end and the offense came itself."
